At that time, Lum-chan was an older girl to a kid my age. I was a bit nervous when I saw her jumping around in a bikini. That's how I first saw her. Even though I was in a war with the girls in my class in those days (laughs). When I see Lum-chan now, I see her as an innocent girl with a winning spirit. Do you see her that way? It was already "Ranma time" when I was around the same age as Lum, so I could not directly experience the series as the same age group, but my seniors who did must have been in an unbelievable state. The characters [of Urusei Yatsura] are truly living freely. They live outside of categorization, doing as they please. They are not the "___ type". Lum-chan is Lum-chan and Ataru is Ataru. It's very natural, and I think everyone could really be out there somewhere. That's why I, as a reader, feel that I can be myself and stay connected to this world just as I am.

So, I am sure that Lum-chan's planet is somewhere in the universe alongside Keroro's. So perhaps they may be able to meet one day! May I be allowed to hope so?
